Graceful Glass Vellum Bookmarks & Delightfully Detailed Suite

Hello Stamping Friends,

A new catalog year has started and Stampin’ Up! is celebrating their 30th birthday!  It is great to be part of a company that keeps on keeping on (and keeping up with modern trends)!

Thank you for supporting the catalog launch on Friday and Saturday and the craft sale.  All the left over products that didn’t sell are now in a new tab on this blog that I titled “Bake Sale”.

The new hostess code is C2HE3X22.  Our bimonthly club is July 10th and guests are welcome for $5 or a $25 order placed between now and July 10th.

For the make and take at the catalog launch I displayed several new products and the favorite was the Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut paper shown on pages 38-39.  It is part of the Delightfully Detailed suite. Our wonderful home office has compiled a set of videos introducing the new catalog products and this is the video that showcases the paper we all loved.

Click here to see all the new products-the paper is toward the end:

Of course, at every catalog launch we must make a ‘traditional’ bookmark for our catalogs and a color chart with the new In Colors so we can actually see them, punch them – love them!  The bookmarks used the In Colors and the Graceful Glass Designer Vellum #146344, page 165.

The ribbon is 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle in Whisper White, #146912, and various baker’s twine including the new Nature’s Twine #146342 which has the Grapefruit Grove color-see pages 200-201.

  • Bookmark Base = 2″ X 7″  punched at the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch #133324
  • Whisper White for behind the vellum = 1 1/2″  X  6″
  • Vellum = 1 1/2″ X 6″ (except the yellow roses which are 1 1/4″ X 5 1/2″)
  • Black for the yellow roses = 1 1/2″ X 5 3/4″

The color charts use a 3/4″ length of cardstock punched with the retired banner punch.

To make vellum bright white, rub the backside of the vellum with a stylus #126189 on the Stampin’ Pierce Mat #126199:

The front side:

It also gives a 3D look and feel.

The color charts all had to be redone for the color revamp.  This year I added a few extra color charts to compare color families.

Brights; Neutrals; Basics;

Regals and Subtles;

In Colors;

Blues and Grays; Reds and Pinks;

Purples and Browns; Oranges and Yellows; Greens;

We have 13 greens so the last two had to be split.

There are twelve Color Charts.  Email me if you would like the Excel spreadsheet or if you would like to order a set of cards.  I will make them up for you for $8 – pick up at my house; or $10 -mailed within the USA.  email:  stampalosopher@gmail.com

Contact me if you would like a catalog, I would love to earn your business and be your demonstrator.

Holiday Carryover Products

Three of my stamping club members have agreed to host online Sale A Bration clubs Jan., Feb., Mar.  Lucille is our hostess for January and the hostess code is R7QAJV2P.  I will post the codes for Feb and March as we get within 30 days since the codes are only good that long.

Now for my New Year’s / Thank You cards.  I couldn’t let the season slip silently southward (tee hee) without making sure everyone on my list received a greeting, but we were traveling in December and by 4:00 AM one morning I just had to give it up.  Upon our return, I worked on cards for the New Year and decided the design would work just as well for Thank You cards with just a little tweaking.

I started simple with standard layers, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise, Dazzling Diamonds and a few rhinestones:

Enter Sheri, my beloved stamping friend, and she suggested we experiment with embossing a so we tried the layers of Whisper White and Night of Navy that were so stunning with the Christmas Joy card (see my last post for measurements) and why not mix several embossing powder colors to make a really cool firework display.  She looked a bit like a mad scientist as we got out several colors of embossing powder and began stirring them together.  I think we combined the new green glitter and red glitter powders with yellow, copper and iridescent ice:

We added lots of color with the stamps and embellishments and embossed the year in copper.  This was Paul’s favorite card!  It was a bit too colored for my monochromatic tastes so we embossed with just copper embossing powder, (Pretend you are seeing brilliant Whisper White not the phone’s pink interpretation)…

That wasn’t what I hoped for either so we tried a combination of embossing and stamping in Night of Navy.  Bingo…. loved it..

A little piece of copper metallic thread is tied around the Night of Navy Seam Binding ribbon and a glue dot placed underneath the left side to hold the bows out to the side. The inside:

(I tried a contrast button to make the image whiter which didn’t work very well.  Sigh…..)  Now a problem arose, I didn’t have enough Night of Navy cardstock to make the number of cards I needed so I went back to turquoise with a Basic Gray layer…..

I used gray bakers twine I had left over from a Paper Pumpkin but there was not enough so I took Whisper White Bakers Twine and cut a length for each card I planned on making and then soaked the twine in a mixture of Tempting Turquoise Ink Refill and water.  I hung the twine piece by piece on a hangar over the sink so any drips wouldn’t stain anything and let it dry overnight.  Bingo again!

For the inside I had two different designs, one for a thank you card and one for a New Years card:

The contrast button makes it look a little whiter but not how it looks in real life.  For the inside of the thank you:

And that my stamping friends is what happens as you design a card!  Which is your favorite?

Stamp sets used:  Jar of Love, Wonderful Year, Project Life Day to Day, Greenhouse Garden for the fireworks, Perfectly Preserved thank you, and Another Thank You stamp sets.

I am off to Amazon to find a light box.  Watch for the next post on using the new watercolor pencils!

August Special Bundle-Thoughtful Branches

Hello Stamping Friends,

I find it hard to believe the kiddos are headed back to school and all the stores are dressing up with fall colors.  I am in denial that summer is almost over even though I do love fall (and really really love getting a new Holiday catalog!! It will be available September 1.)

Whether you love summer or fall, August offers a special stamp set and Thinlits bundle called Thoughtful Branches that is available only in August. You could ink up the stamp with green or gold;  or….check out how Mary Bush from stampininthesand.blogspot.com used the set to make a beautiful hydrangea flower with our Sugarplum In Color.  Thank you, Mary.

Catalog Launch

Hello Stamping Friends,

We had a great time at the catalog launch last Saturday.  We made a bookmark and refrigerator magnets with the new In Colors so we could see them up close and personal- they are beautiful colors!  And that ribbon………just yummy!

To take those little decorations home, we needed a little bag so we used the new Gift Bag Punch Board (pg. 150 in the new catalog) ((Thank you, Sheri))

The punch board has a Small, Medium, and Large size box, but with a little tweaking we could make an extra small box using a 6 X 6 piece of paper. (note:  page 144 of the new catalog has three different paper stacks of 6X6 designer series paper).  I didn’t get those in my first order so we made do with  scrap from the past.  Here are the gift bags ready for decorating with greetings, the starting paper sizes are on the sticky notes.

Stampin’ Up! has a great instruction video as well:

Contact me if you need a catalog mailed to you, or come by and make your own catalog bookmark & magnets!   You have to see these new In Colors to appreciate them, the catalog doesn’t do them justice.
